IN-PERSON MEETING — AUGUST 28 — SÃO PAULOLEARN MORE

Professionals · O-1

Your professional recognition can open space to work temporarily in the United States.

O-1 is a temporary visa classification for professionals with extraordinary ability or recognized achievements. MGM connects what you have already accomplished to the concrete work you intend to develop in the country · organizing information, documents, contracts, and participants.

Start with your field, the recognition already earned and the project you intend to develop in the United States.

Talent with professional recognition — page hero

A temporary path to work at the top of your field in the United States.

O-1 may authorize temporary work when there is real distinction in the field and a concrete project with a U.S. employer or agent.

Defined temporary work

Authorization tied to a clear period and scope of work.

Recognition backed by evidence

The story relies on demonstrable distinction · not generic fame.

A concrete U.S. project

A U.S. employer or agent, contracts and real activities in the country.

These elements depend on the individual context and the applicable steps.

The dream: work in the U.S. at the top of your field · for a defined period.

The O-1 visa is a temporary classification for professionals with extraordinary ability or recognized achievements in sciences, education, business, athletics, arts, motion picture, and television. It requires a U.S. employer or petitioning agent and a concrete project tied to your field.

Science, business, education, athletics

Recognition and results in your specialty.

Arts and audiovisual

Creative distinction and real projects in the United States.

Past + evidence + future

Trajectory, evidence and the work you will carry out in the country.

Thinking about a Green Card?

O-1 is temporary. Residence may be a different pathway, such as EB-1A. See EB-1A

The recognition you have already built can open the next chapter.

The first step is not to gather every document. It is to connect your trajectory to the concrete project you intend to develop in the United States.

Share my story

Guidance

O-1 or EB-1A?

The choice depends on the goal: temporary work with a defined project or permanent residence based on extraordinary recognition.

O-1

Temporary work with distinction

Links demonstrable recognition to a U.S. employer or agent and a concrete project · for a defined period.

EB-1A

Residence through extraordinary recognition

Focuses on a trajectory of sustained recognition and professional continuity in the United States · without depending on a job offer.

Learn more about EB-1A

Some professionals may present elements for both pathways. The decision must weigh goal, timeline and the quality of the evidence.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you begin.

Do I need to be famous?

No. Popular fame is not the point of coordination. What gets organized is evidence of recognition in the field · legal review of that evidence belongs to an independent attorney

Can I self-petition?

In general, an O-1 petition is filed by a U.S. employer or agent, not by the professional as a self-petition. The concrete structure of your case is reviewed by an independent attorney; MGM coordinates information and participants

Does O-1 have an annual lottery?

Not in the same model as other categories with annual selection. That does not remove the need for a well-organized project nor confirm eligibility or outcome

Can my spouse work?

Study or work authorization for dependents depends on the classification and the case. Do not treat this FAQ as a definitive rule — confirm with an independent attorney; the preliminary assessment organizes context

What is the O-1 visa?

In general terms (informational guidance): a nonimmigrant (temporary) visa associated with professionals with recognition in their field. In general the petition starts from a U.S. employer or agent, with activities tied to the specialty · distinct from a Green Card. Case structure belongs to an independent attorney

What is USCIS?

It is the U.S. government agency that handles many immigration and citizenship filings inside the country (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services). When a case has steps abroad, other agencies (such as the Department of State) may also be involved

What is the difference between a visa and immigration status?

In general terms (informational guidance): a visa (in the passport) is often tied to requesting entry in a category; status is the condition of stay after admission or an approved change inside the country. That is why someone may hold valid status even with an expired visa · and the reverse can also occur. The scenario depends on the case · confirm with an independent attorney
