International student · page hero

Academic study in the U.S. · with organization, not improvisation.

F-1 addresses study in an approved program and academic continuity, with clarity on documents and the next operational step.

Study continuity

Approved program, enrollment and academic status need to stay aligned throughout the journey.

Document organization

School documents, I-20 and status records need method and clarity.

MGM follow-through

MGM coordinates information and participants per scope; it does not guarantee school admission or approval.

How these elements apply depends on F-1 status, the academic program and the other applicable steps.

This page often fits when academic study in the U.S. needs organization.

F-1 deserves attention when there is active status, continuity planning or school documents to organize.

Active F-1 status

Student in an approved program who needs to organize continuity and documentation.

Planning continuity

Next semester, transfer or program extension need to be aligned in advance.

School documents to organize

I-20, academic records and supporting documents need to be gathered with method.

Uncertain next step

OPT, change of status or another transition may be on the horizon · and need clarity.

No single element defines the picture. The set must be organized and explored case by case.

Study in the U.S. also requires method.

Years of academic training should not be lost to document disorganization. The first step is to understand what already exists and what still needs to be aligned.

Organize my F-1 scenario

F-1 status and the academic program need to be understood before they are reorganized.

MGM coordinates information, documents, participants and administrative steps so F-1 advances with organization and clarity.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you begin.

Do I need to know the form name before the assessment?

No. The preliminary assessment starts with current status, the study program and what you intend to organize

Are F-1 and OPT the same process?

No. F-1 is study status in an approved program; OPT is post-completion work authorization related to F-1 in many scenarios

Can I connect F-1 to a later change of status?

In some scenarios, yes · within selected categories served by MGM and after screening. It is not automatic or guaranteed

Does MGM sell the school program or the F-1 visa?

No. MGM coordinates organization of the mobility project. Courses and degrees, when relevant, belong to their own institutions · they are not sold by MGM as a visa

Does the preliminary assessment guarantee eligibility or approval?

No. The preliminary assessment organizes the picture and guides the next step. It does not conclude eligibility, approval or outcome

What is the F-1 visa?

In general terms (informational guidance): the student visa for academic programs in the United States. It is generally tied to full-time study and its own status rules; it is not, by itself, general work authorization or permanent residence. Case applicability belongs to an independent attorney

What is OPT?

In general terms (informational guidance): OPT (Optional Practical Training) is work authorization tied to F-1 student status, generally for professional practice related to the degree. There are timing and case conditions; some STEM fields may allow an extension. It is not permanent residence · applicability belongs to an independent attorney

What is the I-94?

It is the admission record that generally shows the category and the date until which the person may remain in the United States for that entry. It is an important reference for anyone already in the country tracking the validity of status

What is USCIS?

It is the U.S. government agency that handles many immigration and citizenship filings inside the country (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services). When a case has steps abroad, other agencies (such as the Department of State) may also be involved
